Today I realized that it was exactly 21 years ago today when at age 21, I left my past in the Midwest and drove a U-Haul truck straight into my new life in California. I landed with only $200 to my name, no car and only a friend’s couch for a bed.
Tomorrow when I awake, I will have lived most of my life in California. God is SO good and I am SO blessed for the life I have been given, the journey I have traveled and the beauty that surrounds me.

Gorgeous photo! and you have indeed been blessed! what a great story!
I just have to pop in and say that you are my newest favorite blog. I was drawn most to your design work, and your life, and your hand made wares. Then, today, because I can do math, realized we are the same age. We are both designers turned moms turned seller of our wares. But I come to you for inspiration because your work is so much stronger than mine. Your logo work just makes me swoon. So solid and sure. And you do so MUCH. Work + blogging + photos + mothering + being a wife + taking care of your home. It's alot, and you seem to pull it off!
Didn't mean to gush! Have a great day in Cali! God IS so good!
Just wanted to let you know that I used your globe bowl as inspiration for my own project! I found you when googling about how to take the globes apart the best way, and loved what you did with the book pages! I have linked to you on my blog post today along with the project! I am so glad that I found your blog, and I'll be back often for inspiration!!
Blessings,
Stacey
ps--I agree, God is Good! :)
How funny. This month marks my 18 years in CA and it's been just like you. I left Tx when I was 18 so it's been half my life that I have lived in CA and like you I feel so blessed.
Love your blog. You are so creative and talented. I am just outside of Sacramento. Have been thru Petaluma a few times and it's just a gorgeous little town!
He is good, indeed.
Thankful for God's Gentle Hands in all our lives.
Wonderful story.
Your blog is my favorite. I read others posted on etsy and have found that I always enjoy yours. A pleasant smile appears after I have read.
What a beautiful post!
I love the picture. Remember when I did the same thing, no money,Donna's couch, and a junky old car. Although I was only moving an hour away, but I only knew one person in Santa Rosa. Petaluma is a very lovely place to live. I met someone here in Maine, that has relatives in Petaluma and she had so many wonderful things to say about the community.
Cathe you are blessed in so many ways.
ha ha Tania, at that time in your life, I think I remember more about that than you. lol
amen.
Oh, how I miss that bridge!
I hope to get back to California one day.
Blessed indeed!
I have enjoyed going through your blog this morning (I have spent the longest time here), clicking to enlarge any Petaluma image you have. My very best childhood memories are growing up there, in Petaluma!
Sincerely ~ Tricia Anne
