If you had plans today, did you remember to spring foward you clocks and wake up on time? Well we sprung forward, but still woke up late. So as we were running around trying to get ready to get to church on time, I heard a strange bleat from out my bedroom window. We have a very small flock of sheep in our 1/2 acre pasture and you can tell by their bleating when something’s up. I took a look out my window and saw that one ewe I didn’t even know was pregnant had just had her baby.
Although I’m not much of a country girl, I never tire of baby lambs or the lambing process. Somehow through all the fuss, we still made it to church on time, Starbucks in hand. Once back from church we took a few pictures of the baby that Sarah named Lucy. Jamie went into the small barn to place the baby in a patch of sun because she was still wet. The lamb took some baby steps and began to nurse. How awesome is God!
UPDATE: Turns out Lucy is a boy. So the kids thought it would be fun to see what boy name my blog readers can come up with! Let us know if you have any ideas!!

A male sheep born on Sunday needs a name. It's gotta be Luke. It is, as I remember, in Luke that the story of the shepherds is told.
Quoting Wiki here: The Adoration of the shepherds, in the Nativity of Jesus in art, is a scene in which shepherds are near witnesses to the birth of Jesus, at his birthplace, typically depicted as a barn, near Bethlehem. It is based on the account in the Gospel of Luke, not reported by any other Canonical Gospel, which states that an angel appeared to a group of shepherds, saying that Christ had been born in Bethlehem. Luke then states that a crowd of angels appear to the shepherds saying H'allelujah, peace on earth to men of good will. The shepherds are then described as being spurred by this to visit Jesus, before they return to their flocks.

I like the name Sunday! Since you were going to church and it was a sunday. The kids might like the spelling "Sundae' since it was a little treat that you were not expecting! I love the baby lamb! Jamie is a pretty girl too!

How about Lucas...he is so cute. We have had 3 new baby goats born in the last 3 weeks and 2 of the 3 were born on Sunday...they are little miracles.
